DOW has invested a lot of time and money over the years to provide the best equipment available to maintain your building’s carpets.  

There are two types of carpet cleaning that Dow Building Services recommends and uses:

A.    Hot Water Extraction – This method is also known as steam cleaning, and is the one most recommended by manufacturers of carpets.  This is a very deep cleaning that is accomplished with a spray of water and detergent into the carpet pile, then recovered with a powerful vacuum into a holding tank.  Here at DOW, we use a truck-mounted unit so that only the hose and floor tools are brought inside your building.  

From a health standpoint, the truck-mounted system is preferred because the dirty air and humidity are exhausted outside rather than re-circulated around the building.  Additionally, the truck-mount is more powerful than a portable unit, does a much better cleaning job, and gets the carpet dry more quickly.

B.    Bonnet Cleaning – This method is also known as “spin pad” cleaning.  It is basically done with a pad immersed in cleaning solution and attached to a rotary floor machine.  The advantages of bonnet cleaning are lower cost, faster drying, and faster cleaning (because you’re only cleaning the surface).  

In order for your carpets to look good throughout the year, Dow Building Services recommends a combination of one Hot Water Extraction clean and one Bonnet clean during the year.
