The Mission of the Environmental Services Division at DOW is to improve the delivery of patient care by providing an aseptic environment for patient care and an overall pleasing environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Environmental Services is about more than just cleanliness. It is a hospital's first opportunity to gain confidence in patients and their visitors. It's absolutely mandatory to create a clean and safe facility for patients and staff, and it all translates into patient satisfaction that results in their return to our client's facility should the need arise in the future.
Environmental Services is an integral part of the hospital team. Our work directly impacts all aspects of the daily routine, from the O.R. to the patient room. Below is a sampling of our services that can be customized to your facility:
- Cleaning and disinfecting patient and non-patient areas according to DOW policy and procedure
- Cleaning and disinfecting Operating Rooms according to DOW policy and procedure
- Removing regular and medical waste
- Clean linen distribution and soiled linen pick-ups
- Any unscheduled or emergency housekeeping services which fall under the routine scope of service of the Enviornmental Services Division, or that is considered neccessary for health, safety or patient care
- Evaluate and monitor the interior of the hospital for areas or items needing repair, and reporting items to the appropriate department for repair.

What We're Hearing...
Dow Building Services has been the Custodial Contractor for Baxter Healthcare Corporation in Mountain Home since April of 1999. That in itself should tell you something. Baxter is a medical manufacturing facility, and our requirements are FDA regulated. We have approximately 550,000 square feet of building, of which 250,000 square feet is production space that is classified as “clean room”. The rest of our space is office and warehouse. DOW won the janitorial bid initially from six other companies. We felt at the time that DOW would be more responsive to our needs because they are an Arkansas company, with local, on-site management and a corporate office in North Little Rock. Dow Building Services has proven our initial intuition correct. Dow Worsham has personally made several commitments to us over the years and he has followed through on each one, and he still makes regular visits to oversee our in-house operations. DOW has approximately 50 employees that take care of our building on a 24/7 schedule. They do an excellent job of keeping our facility clean and they handle any extra activities that might occur on a daily basis. Bill Porterfield has put together a good Team at our site, and we’re glad to have them with us. They’re a good company, with good people, and we are very happy working with them.
